Simple fix with no reaming or special tools required
The ZF5HP19 Pressure Regulator Repair kit is a simple fix you can do while the transmission is still in the vehicle. This kit addresses the PR valve malfunction that causes rough or bangy shifts complaints. Be sure to identify your valve body and verify it has a vent in the location shown.

In ZF5HP19 units, the pressure modulator valve train controls accumulator back-pressure relative to load and is subject to significant wear due to constant motion under normal operating conditions. Excessive bore and valve spool wear will likely cause poor or no line pressure rise. Poor line pressure rise is indicated by flare upshifts or slip/chatter in reverse. Other symptoms such as softening and lengthening shifts with rising temperature and clutch distress may be present. Installing Sonnax oversized pressure modulator valve kit 85755-03K can restore proper functionality to the entire bore and valve train.

Oversized Lubrication Valve Kit

The ZF5HP19 lubrication valve limits cooler pressure. Depending on the extent and location of bore and valve wear, cooler flow and pressure may be reduced or elevated. Uncontrolled pressures can lead to rupture of the cooler line or of the cooler. Reduced or lost lubrication flow and pressure can lead to planetary and/or bushing failure. Installing Sonnax oversized lubrication valve kit 85755-07K will restore correct lubrication flow and pressure.

Vehicles equipped with ZF5HP19 transmissions often encounter TCC troubles such as RPM surge, overheating, apply and release concerns and TCC codes. These problems can often be traced to excess bore wear at the TCC apply valve, which permits crucial control pressure to exhaust.
