Cause:
The OE sleeve warps due to large slots, causing the valve to bind up, or leakage occurs due to sleeve wear, resulting in loss of any pressure.
Correction:
Replace the OE sleeve with the Sonnax sleeve, which provides added stability and better wear resistance.

Severe wear of the servo apply pin bore due to continuous pin oscillation can result in burned clutches, shift complaints and destroyed cases. The Sonnax sleeve kit is made from highly wear-resistant aluminum, and allows the case to be refurbished to provide proper clearance with the servo apply pins. Installation of the sleeve kit requires reamer tool kit S-76890-TL24 and alignment fixture SERVO-FIX. The SERVO-FIX is also used with AXOD & E, AX4S/4N and 5R55N, 5R55W and 5R55S applications.
Symptoms: - 2nd Clutch burned (GM)
- 3-4 Flare (Ford)

- Burnt OD band (Ford)
Cause:

The bell housing bushing on GM 180C, 4L30-E and AR25, AR35 transmissions becomes worn due to normal wear. Excessive clearance between the bell housing bushing and the converter hub will cause a front seal leak. Simply replacing the metal-clad seal will not fix the problem. Current aftermarket bushings do not fit the converter hub tightly enough and can have more clearance than a worn OE bushing. Sonnax bell housing bushing 54253-01 is designed to fit the converter hub properly and eliminate front seal leakage.

The OE plastic 3-tab washers break or melt under normal operation. Sonnax offers a 3-tab bimetal thrust washer and shim kit 54701-03K to replace the OE plastic washers in both pump and center support locations.
- The steel tabs on the Sonnax thrust washer eliminate breakage.
- The bronze thrust surface will not melt like the OE plastic thrust washers.
- Shims provide more flexibility when setting endplay and allow for rebuilding units after thepump has been resurfaced. The Sonnax washer kit can be stacked to cover a build height from .075" through .125" in .010" increments.
- This kit contains enough parts for pump and stator support locations.
NOTE: The Sonnax thrust washer kit cannot be used to replace late style no-tab thrust washers.
