Ford/Mazda 4F27E, FN4A-EL, FNR5 and FS5A-EL units may exhibit multiple line pressure and converter-related problems due to excess wear in the pressure regulator bore. Wear at the balance spool end allows critical fluid loss, resulting in high line pressure, harsh shifts, and overheating due to reduced cooler/converter/lube flow. Wear at the outboard spool area robs converter feed pressure and lowers line pressure, causing soft shifts and burnt clutches and bands. Reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized pressure regulator valve kit 46892-01K restores hydraulic integrity for proper line pressure control in all ranges.

Cause:
Continuous oscillation of pressure regulator valve results in excess bore wear, causing erratic line pressure and/or restricting converter feed oil.
Correction:
Recover hydraulic control and renew line pressure performance by reconditioning the bore and installing Sonnax oversized pressure regulator valve kit.

Fits two locations.
Listed Ford and Mazda transmissions often suffer shift abnormalities caused by excess wear in the solenoid pressure regulator bore. This wear prevents proper regulation of oil pressure supplied to control solenoids, resulting in harsh or soft shifts, solenoid codes, wrong gear starts, TCC apply issues, and clutch failure.
Reconditioning the bores and installing Sonnax oversized solenoid pressure regulator/converter relief valve 46892-03 shores up the hydraulic integrity of these circuits for renewed shift and TCC operation.

Complaint:
Slips after build on either 1-2 shift or 3-4 shift or burns band and / or drum or slips / flairs on 5-4-3 or 4-3 downshift.
Cause:
Unable to adjust band as no provision exists except to buy expensive gauge tool and 5 different preset length bolts.
Superior Correction / FIX:
The fix is to install the K0121 and simply adjust the band following our easy step by step instructions. The new adjuster and locknut allow you infinite adjustments without tools or extra parts you won’t use.

To release the Intermediate/Overdrive Band for the 2-3 shift on Ford's 4F27E, Direct Clutch oil is applied to the top of the servo piston.
The Direct clutch oil, with the aid of the servo return spring, overcomes apply oil, forcing the servo downward and releasing the band.
The problem is that as the servo applies and releases, the pin wears the case. This wear in the case creates a gap through which Direct clutch oil leaks, causing a lack of apply pressure to the clutch and release pressure on the servo. With this loss of pressure, the life of both the Direct clutch and the Band, even after a rebuild, is seriously shortened.
The 4F27 kit contains tooling necessary to repair the 2-4 servo pin bore. The 4F27 is a BLUE series kit, and is available as either a Master (pictured) or a Sub kit. The 4F27 kit is approved by Ford Motor Company for use in 4F27E transaxles by their dealerships, and is available to dealerships through Rotunda. Separate Sleeve available # 4834
